What is SROI?
As organisations which aim to have a positive impact on the world, your definitions of value go beyond purely financial. This value will be a combination of financial, social, and environmental performance.
Social Return on Investment allows for accounting of this broader definition of value, and as an approach it provides the most practical application of the Social Value Principles and Social Value International framework for accounting for value. SROI is not a new approach or concept. It is built on well-established evaluation approaches and on health and environmental economics. Core to the practice is involving stakeholders, understanding and valuing change from their perspective and developing organisational accountability to those that are affected by your organisations.
This short session will help you to start understanding social value and SROI and accounting for this broader sense of value. You may want to apply the Social Return on Investment (SROI) approach to your work and this session and the resources that will be shared will help you get started!
The focus will be on how to understand social value and SROI, and how to embed social value or impact management into your organisational decision making guided by the principles.
Attendees will be provided with some key resources to take away for further reading, and for practical use in your organisations.
