COVID-19 RESPONSE INITIATIVE FOR COMPANIES AND PROFESSIONALS

Charities urgently need a lifeline to get them through the COVID-19 crisis and continue supporting people in need. You can help.

The outbreak of COVID-19 has changed the fabric of society. Systems of support are changing and we are witnessing the emerging power of symbiotic relationships between individuals, charities, companies and government. Our new initiative helps companies and individual professionals get the right resources to the right place so that they can help the right people, fast.

If you or your company has grants or money donations available, the capacity to offer services or skills for free, or donate products, even the smallest of contributions can make a big difference – it is about finding a match.

●     Browse the dashboard to find a cause and urgent request to match your offer.

●      Click the link to the charity’s profile, which contains transparent and comparable information on the charity. All charities are registered with the Charity Commission in England & Wales.

●      Use the contact details listed on charity profile to contact the charities directly

●     You can ask any question on our chat bot service on whatCharity.com or get in touch with us at shona@whatcharity.com if you would like us to initiate an introduction with your chosen cause.

●     For larger money donations we can run a bespoke charity call out to match you with strategically aligned causes nationwide (tel. 07468337176)

…because, doing good should´t be complicated!

Grants towards medication. We are the only source of medical treatment in a quite vast area and because of the virus we are now having to treat people who would have been otherwise in hospital. The area is very distant to a near hospital and each time an ambulance is needed we need to pay for it as well.

We are facing the issues of reduced staff numbers due to illness and self-isolation and our income being hit. Therefore we are most in need of grants and emergency funding. We are working hard to provide end of life care to anyone who needs it across our catchment area and are working with our local hospital to provide discharge beds for patients who are not well enough to go home. How could your donation make a difference? £100 would pay for a nurse for a day, providing expert, compassionate care to a dying patient. £450 would pay for 24 hours of care for one patient in our Inpatient Unit. £2,124 would keep our nurse line running for one week - this service provides vital over the phone advice to any patient or family member who needs it across our catchment area.

We really need financial donations.... every penny counts and we would be so grateful. While our members are isolating we are providing them with activities and projects as well as helping them to get the provisions they need - this includes basic resources like toilet paper, nappies and basic food. We also need to be able to pay staff to continue this work.

We need funding now more than ever. Our core operations are under threat and we are now in a position where we must restructure our support towards a more remote support model. Any amount of funding, big or small, would help our charity to adjust to the new strains that the crisis has put on the day to day workings of our organisation.

We need funding. While our revenue streams have dried up, it is more crucial than ever for funds for core costs to be made available to help us survive these times initially. It will also give us the space to develop alternative means of reaching our beneficiaries through the provision of online resources.

With the crisis meaning our core communications are now happening online, we would benefit hugely from digital marketing support. We need social media and marketing support. With the pandemic meaning that digital communications is our only means of reaching potential supporters, we need this. Fundraising and funds. As a self-funding charity our main source of income is on hold for many months and this will impact hugely on our finances (which are challenging anyway). We are also seeking Trustees to help us get through this and sustain our charity once the crisis is over.

Our team are under increased pressure to support everyone with MS who contacts us for help. Our services are now being requested more than ever. Our information and enquiry team are always in high demand, but the weeks following the UK’s COVID-19 shut-down have been our busiest ever. We hope you will join our efforts to support this vulnerable population in this unprecedented time. We need donations to deliver the two urgent priorities: Strengthen our personal support service for people with MS who are vulnerable at this time; Improve the functionality of our much-requested digital resources, which need to be re-homed from an outdated platform.

The cost of our daily operations have increased massively. Our sanctuaries currently house over 340 bears which require our constant care – we have sadly seen an increase even in the cost of basic fruit and vegetables, as well as general supplies. As our bears have all been rescued from horrific bile farms, the majority are geriatric and require a vast range of medications. Our greatest fear is that the bears’ medicines could run out - stocks are running low on three essential medications... and prices for these are also soaring. Right now our biggest request therefore is funds to ensure our daily operations can continue without issue and we can continue to help suffering animals all across Asia throughout this pandemic and beyond.

We support some of the most vulnerable adults in the Surrey community. Many are isolated, without family and already coping with mental ill-health. We are working around the clock to ensure that our hundreds of clients can access support over the phone and via video during these difficult times, but with many funding streams vanishing our financial security is at risk—we currently only have enough financial resources to guarantee our services for the next few months.

We need financial support - grants, investment into projects or one-off donations! Our biggest concern is that we may not reach our financial targets to support our beneficiaries in Africa and Asia. We wont be able to provide them with health care services in local communities and support for there mental wellbeing. We may have to cut services as a result, but if we do that, then no-one else will look to provide any services to the leprosy affected people. For many of the communities we have supported, we have given hope to them. Hope of survival and making there lives matter through accessing training for work, getting children to have the right to an education and importantly helping people gain access to treatment for the disease, without Drs/nurses/community volunteers being fearful of it.
